The Science and Technology Human Resources Foundation (Yanbinbang SDM-IPTEK) honored three lecturers and an actor with the 2014 Habibie Award on Thursday.
“This award is for people who are very active in their professional field and make meaningful contributions to discovering and developing science and technology,” said foundation head Wardiman Djojonegoro in a speech in Jakarta on Thursday, as reported by Antara news agency.
A physics doctor at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Ferry Iskandar, was presented an award for his work in basic sciences.
The second awardee was an engineering lecturer at Gadjah Mada University, Ahmad Agus Setiawan, who won the award for his work in engineering sciences.
The third awardee was Salim Said, a former Indonesian ambassador to the Czech Republic who lectures at the Indonesia Defense University. He won the award for his work in the field of political and social sciences.
The fourth awardee is a prominent theater actor as well as director, author and founder of Teater Koma, Norbertus Riantiarno. He won the award for his work in the cultural field.
The Habibie Award is an annual event to commemorate the anniversary of the Habibie Center on Nov. 10.
